Meet the Team: Rachael Vaden

1. Where are you originally from?
I was born in Highland Park Illinois, my young childhood was spent in San Diego California but I grew up mostly in Denison Texas which is about an hour and a half north of Dallas with about 24,000 people.

2. What do you like the most about our new office?
Is everything a good answer? I love that we got to be the first people in the office with it being a brand new build. Everything is so nice and new and we have great views!

3. What do you like/dislike about Dallas?
I love everything that the DFW metroplex has to offer from an entertainment standpoint. There is never a lack of restaurants and there is always something new! Least favorite thing about Dallas is the TRAFFIC!

4. Who’s in your cluster and what is your favorite moment with them?
My cluster includes; Adam, Jacie, Derek & AJ. Derek and AJ are our newbies! I wouldn’t say that I have a particularly favorite moment with them but I will brag and say that I am so lucky that I get to work with such a dynamic and inspiring group of people every day!

5. What college/university did you attend?
I went to Grayson College in Denison Texas and graduated with an Associated of Applied Science in Hospitality Management.

6. How long have you worked for Kriya RevGEN?
I have been working with Kriya RevGEN since August 2018.

7. Did you have any previous experience?
The majority of my previous work experience has been in hospitality. I’ve worked in every department except housekeeping but have spent most of my time in group sales.

8. What made you want to join the RevGEN team?
I had previous knowledge of the hotel management side of Kriya from being out in the industry but I discovered the Kriya RevGEN side after catching up with an old friend who was currently working with the company. All it took was a quick lunch with my friend after he explained everything he did and I was sold on the Kriya-Koolaide. I knew I wanted to be a part of their culture!

9. What is your favorite office lunch spot?
Currently, my favorite lunch spot is Esparza’s which is Tex-Mex located on Main Street in Downtown Grapevine. Especially when the weather is nice and we can sit on the patio!

10. Favorite hotel chain/brand to manage?
Each brand has something to offer which I enjoy, however, I really enjoy working with Independent properties purely because we can be really creative with revenue strategy and they are really flexible!

11. Favorite genre of music?
I like a little bit of everything! I love throwback disco but also enjoy country music. My favorite artist right now is, however, is Post Malone.

12. What genre of music sets the mood for your workday?
I normally start my days with a podcast. I love true crime and my favorite podcast right now is a comedy/true crime podcast called My Favorite Murder. “SSDGM”

13. Name one thing about yourself that most people wouldn’t guess.
Two things- I’m really into vintage cars and politics.

14. Hobbies?
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a hobby, but I love antiquing and rummaging through vintage shops. I enjoy finding all sorts of trinkets and forgotten things!

15. The most challenging and most rewarding part of your job?
My clients. I have a direct impact on the performance of a hotel and the livelihood of the people that work there. I take great pride and ownership in the work that I do to provide guidance and strategy to enable the properties to perform at their best!
