Where are you originally from?
Born and raised in Houston, TX!
What is your favorite food?
I could eat pizza all day, every day. With how many different combinations there are nowadays (meatlovers, gluten free, veggie), the options are endless!
What do you like/dislike about Dallas?
I like how I am able to live and explore a new part of Texas other than Houston since I have spent most of my life there. I dislike how Dallas isn’t as diverse as Houston when it comes to food, at least in my experiences so far.
What do you miss the most about home?
I really miss living closer to my family and friends from high school/college. Also Houston has the best margaritas and TexMex food compared to what I’ve had here in Dallas, so definitely miss that too.
What college/university did you attend?
I attended the University of Houston for my Bachelors in Hotel/Restaurant Management and Houston Baptist University for graduate school where I got my MBA.
How long have you worked for Kriya RevGEN?
I have worked for Kriya RevGEN since November of 2017, so a little over a year now!
Did you have any previous experience?
When I was in college I went through a number of different hospitality jobs and internships to gain as much experience as possible while I was in school. For a couple of years I was a Guest Services Coordinator at a 5 star spa in Uptown Houston where I did Front Desk, Concierge, and Reservation tasks all under one occupation which was fun. Post Bachelor degree I took a summer internship with Marriott International where I got to move out to Aspen, CO for a summer where I worked at a Ritz Carlton which was amazing! While pursuing my MBA I also took an interest in travel management from the travel agency side of things and was able to intern at a global travel management company located in Houston which was also very interesting.
What made you want to join the RevGEN team?
Kriya RevGEN seemed like a great company to join right after I finished my Master’s degree because I knew the company was young, growing, and had and still has tremendous potential when it comes to revenue management in the Hospitality industry. It’s great to be a part of a company where we are changing the way that revenue management is conducted, and I think we will continue to see excellent growth.
Favorite hotel chain/brand to manage?
I enjoy managing Hiltons because I feel like out of all brands, their systems and processes are set up the best. I also really like how they incorporate the concept of length of stay pricing more so than other brands do.
Most challenging and most rewarding part of your job?
The most challenging part about my job is having to stay on top of managing multiple different brands/systems at once while still grasping how each individual hotel runs. Each hotel is going to be located in their own market, have their own unique competitive set, and booking window. It is our job to be the expert on these different variables to set up the hotel for success. The most rewarding part of my job is being able to have a relationship with each client. It is a special thing when you get to the point where you incorporate yourself as part of a hotel’s team, where you aren’t just some revenue manager that they get on a call with for thirty minutes to an hour every week. Once you build that trust and get there with each client, it’s really rewarding.
Favorite genre of music?
It honestly depends on what I am doing. If I am working out, I love hard rock/metal music. If I am just hanging out, I love funk rock like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As a native Texan, I am also a big fan of country music. Picking a favorite is too hard!
What genre of music sets the mood for your workday?
I am so used to the hipster tunes that Daniel plays at this point, I expect that whenever I come into the office.
What is your favorite office lunch spot?
I really enjoy when we go to Our Place. Can’t go wrong with stuffing your face in endless Indian food. It always leads to a food coma which is great for a Friday afternoon.
What are some of your hobbies?
Working out, Running the Katy Trail, painting/drawing if I have time, binging a Netflex series, spending time with family and friends, and of course, drinking wine!
Name one thing about yourself that most people wouldn’t guess.
I have scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef.
